My first acquaintance with Christian Science came many years ago, and the benefits derived from the study and application of its teachings are of inestimable value. I should like to express some of the gratitude I feel for what it has done for me, knowing that what it has done for me it can do for others.
A loved one had passed on, and my thought was filled with resentment and hatred toward a God who I thought was responsible for this great injustice. To my aggrieved sense there seemed nothing left but sorrow and loneliness.
I had heard about Christian Science, but was much opposed to what I incorrectly assumed it to be. However, through the loving guidance of a friend, who read to me and lovingly explained the truth as taught in Christian Science, I turned wholeheartedly to it for healing, and in a very short time the gloom was lifted. I began to know God as the only Life and Love, I was healed of the false sense of grief, and learned to be glad and to rejoice. The following statement by Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health (p. 69) was a great comfort to me and opened my eyes to the truth about God and man: "Spiritually to understand that there is but one creator, God, unfolds all creation, confirms the Scriptures, brings the sweet assurance of no parting, no pain, and of man deathless and perfect and eternal."
