The Rule of Perfection

In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy states (p. 336) that "the Science of being furnishes the rule of perfection, and brings immortality to light." God's rule is invariably beneficent. Throughout each day's experiences we can apply it first of all in our thoughts, and then, to the very best of our ability, in the accomplishment of our everyday tasks. These tasks will be carried out more excellently and with less labor as we rid ourselves of bad habits of thought, speech, and action by holding mentally to the operation of this rule.

God's creation is governed by the rule of perfection. He made everything that was made, and "without him was not any thing made that was made." That which reflects God is incapable of deflection or limited reflection.

What can Christian Science do for humanity, which seems to be confronted with imperfection on every hand? What can it do for those afflicted with sinful propensities, those laid low by disease, poverty, sorrow? It can do precisely what Christ Jesus did for those similarly afflicted, for this Science upholds God's law of perfection which was in the thought of Jesus when he gave the command, "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." Through the revelation of Christian Science the perfection of God and man is being brought to light in increasing measure.
