The comment of a syndicated article is appreciated wherein it is said that "behind the claims of our friends the Christian Scientists ... is a profound scientific truth." However, the item gives a misleading impression when it associates with Christian Scientists another group which professes beliefs entirely at variance with the teachings of Christian Science.
Christian Science is a Christian religion; and it is unique among religions because it requires its adherents to heal the sick and sinning by the spiritually mental means that were taught and practiced by Christ Jesus. Furthermore, Christian Science is unique because it accepts without qualification the proposition of Mary Baker Eddy, its Discoverer and Founder: "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 468), a proposition that is sustained by the words of the Master, "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing."
