I am deeply grateful for all the blessings the study of Christian Science has brought to me.
My first healing was that of the smoking habit. This took place on the occasion of my second attendance at a Christian Science Sunday School. At the time, all I knew of Christian Science was that it was a practical religion. Of its method of healing I knew little, but I do know that a desire to live a more Christlike life was aroused in me as that Sunday lesson was studied.
A problem which was beautifully met by Christian Science was that of employment. At the time the problem arose I was in a small town, about fifty miles from the city. There did not seem much opportunity of further employment in this town, nor did the city hold better prospects. When I spoke to a friend about this problem, he told me of a young lady who, after much fruitless searching, had realized that she did not have to seek anxiously something she did not possess, but that God guides all His ideas into their right activity. On relinquishing her anxiety and listening for God's voice she had been led to telephone a firm who although they could not give her employment before, were now glad of her services.
