Topic: The Search for Happiness

[J. L. Newland, in the Frederick Leader, Oklahoma]

If a man's religion is worth while, it should add greatly to the sum total of his happiness. If it is an exposition of truth, it will bring him new reason for rejoicing every day. For truth is light—and light is the sign of God's presence. "Let there be light" is the first recorded commandment.

But if light only causes us to blink our eyes, or put on colored glasses to lessen its brightness, we can hardly be said to be qualifying as the "children of light." And if truth be only theoretical in our lives, and we are not willing and glad to put it into action, it means little to us.
