The Tenth Piece of Silver

If a woman have ten pieces of silver
And lose one, shall she sit still and say:
"I have nine left. Therewith I am content."
No, rather shall she light her candle,
instructed by its beams,
shall sweep her house and diligently search
until she findeth out the place
of that which she feared she had lost.

Shall I be satisfied
with something less
than scientific demonstration,
since from the stately throne of grace
there radiates in ceaseless flow
the mighty stream of truth demonstrable?
Nay, rather let me turn the warm, kind glow
of Love's intelligence upon my problem,
and with the clean broom of industry
let me sweep thoroughly my consciousness,
and let me search with diligence until I see
etched in the white light of infinity
the answer sure, inevitable,
pleasing alike to Love and me.
