Man One with Mind, God

In her comprehensive definition, which gives to the world the true understanding of God, Mrs. Eddy uses seven synonyms for Him as the All-in-all. On page 587 of Science and Health she defines "God," in part, as "Principle; Mind; Soul; Spirit; Life; Truth; Love." Thus, in God is found the source of all action, intelligence, and power. Therefore, the terms in this comprehensive definition are most important for the Christian Scientist to understand.

The synonym Mind conveys to the human understanding the almightiness of God, as expressed in the terms omnipotence, omnipresence, and omniscience. Hence, the real man is at one with Mind, God. Man derives from Him the intelligence, wisdom, and power of individual thought and action, through spiritual reflection. What God is, man reflects in intelligent activity.

Since all power, presence, and intelligence belong to God, it is plainly evident that there can be no other power endued with these qualities and attributes. Considering this, we see that whatever seems to be real or intelligent to the material senses is due to belief in an opposite mind, or source. Mrs. Eddy writes (Science and Health, p. 263), "Whatever seems to be a new creation, is but the discovery of some distant idea of Truth; else it is a new multiplication or self-division of mortal thought, as when some finite sense peers from its cloister with amazement and attempts to pattern the infinite."
