The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

Okanogan, Washington (Society).

Lecturer: John Ellis Sedman; introduced by Mrs. Jeanne Louisa Frye, who said:—

Several years ago I became interested in Christian Science through a healing which I received. I had been very ill with lung trouble and was confined to my bed most of the time. The doctors and specialists did everything in their power, but finally said there was nothing more that could be done. Then I met a Christian Science practitioner, who seemed very much interested in me. She told me about Christian Science, and in a few days I was completely healed.

My friends and some of the doctors who saw me a few weeks later marveled at the healing. It is needless to say I was overjoyed to be well again, but later I found that in order to solve the problems of everyday life I must have an understanding of this healing Science. It was then that I took up the serious study of it.

Athens, Ohio (Society).

Lecturer: Frank Bell; introduced by Mrs. Martha H. Mason, who said:—

A few years ago I heard a Christian Science lecture for the first time. The truths spoken by the lecturer concerning God and man's relation to Him, and concerning the practical and usable teachings of our Master, Christ Jesus, caused me to ponder.

Prior to that time I had been a medical nurse and had taught medical nursing, as well. Several months after I heard this lecture, my little daughter became so ill that I realized the physicians would give me no hope for her recovery, so I turned unreservedly to God, as Christian Science teaches us to do, and she was quickly and beautifully healed of the ailment.

This healing proved to me the superiority of God's ways over those of mankind; and since then we have had many healings and blessings through the application of this truth. Christian Science appealed to me because it is reasonable, it is practical, and it is impartial, so that all who are ready and willing may receive its blessings of health and harmony here and now.
