The recent lecture, "The Bible Idea in the World," carried in the breadth of its statement a refreshing note. The world is in need of more discourse along these lines.

As reported, however, it carries one statement which might and probably would convey to the general reader a false impression. I refer to the use of the word "Scriptures" as descriptive of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mart Baker Eddy.

Science and Health is not the Christian Scientists' Bible. The first tenet of their church is (Church Manual, p. 15), "As adherents of Truth, we take the inspired Word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life." And this Bible which they take as a "sufficient guide to etermal Life" is the same Bible which other Protestant churches use to the same end. Further than this, be assured that there are no people who are more devout and regular students of the Bible than Christian Scienctists.
