I am deeply and most sincerely grateful for the privilege...
I am deeply and most sincerely grateful for the privilege of being a student of Christian Science, and for the many healings I have experienced, physically, financially, morally—and particularly am I grateful for the efficacy of this Science in th business sphere. How wonderfully it helps young people through the material temptations that youth is seemingly heir to. The knowledge of man's unity or at-one-ment with his Father-Mother God, the source of all good, is an ever-present help.
Eight years ago, when a young man, I was going through a very unhappy time. Through misunderstanding, a great amount of jealousy and inharmony was leveled at me, and I knew that to make life bearable something must be done, and that quickly. Having heard of Christian Science and knowing of its beautiful truths, I went to the Reading Room of the branch church in this city and borrowed "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. During the first week of studying and trying to handle the former problem, I was healed permanently of defective eyesight. At the time I was wearing glasses which, according to leading specialists in the Eastern States of Australia, I should always have to wear. As one full of the joy of living, I was unboundedly grateful for this wonderful healing, for it meant no more limitation of activities. It was such a wonderful proof that I knew the other inharmonious problem could and would be solved; and with continued study, within three months all that unhappiness, jealousy, and inharmony disappeared.
Being a member of The Mother Church and a branch church, I am grateful for service in the latter. Ushering has been a great privilege; and another wonderfully progressive step has been that of being a night attendant in the Reading Room, wherein many happy hours of meditation have been spent. I can never be grateful enough for Mrs. Eddy's wisdom in establishing Reading Rooms in connection with Christian Science churches. What spiritual oases in a desert of materiality are these Reading Rooms!
