The teachings of Christian Science came to me in answer to prayer. I had become dissatisfied with the concepts of God and man taught me in childhood; so I earnestly prayed each night that I might be led to know the true God, as exemplified in the life of Christ Jesus. After some years I came in contact with a number of Christian Scientists, and noticed particularly that they talked little about their religion, but lived it consistently. This convinced me that they had found the right way to know God.

I began the daily reading of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which awakened in me a great desire to read the Bible, something I had neglected since leaving an orthodox Sunday school. During this time I laid aside glasses, which had been used for several years, and I have not worn them since.

During twenty-two years as students of Christian Science, my family and I have experienced many physical healings, several of which were instantaneous. Some of the healings were of chronic appendicitis, inflammatory rheumatism, blood poisoning, measles, whooping cough, mumps, influenza, sick headaches, and the effects of severe falls. A surgeon predicted the need of an operation in a case of childbirth, but Christian Science took care of this condition and the birth was painless.
