My mother, who had been severely burned, was healed...
My mother, who had been severely burned, was healed through the application of Christian Science when I was very young; and I have always remembered it as a definite proof that Christian Science does heal regardless of what the medical profession may claim. Three physicians were called in that hour of urgent need by the kind neighbors who came to her aid. The physicians were unanimous in their verdict that she was past all medical help and gave her only a few hours to live. My mother, who had been interested in Christian Science for several months, did not accept the statements of the physicians, but repeatedly requested that a Christian Science practitioner be called. Her pleas had gone unheeded until after the verdict of the doctors, when someone suggested that since she could not live anyway, a practitioner might just as well be called. One was called, who immediately took charge of the case. This turning to God and relying wholly on Him resulted in a rapid and complete healing.
Since that time I have received and witnessed many wonderful healings and blessings through the application of Christian Science. I have been healed of bilious attacks, influenza, headaches, and other discordant conditions. My life has been comparatively free from physical discords, and I attribute this freedom to the protection gained from the study of the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly.
An organization of which I was an employee discontinued business soon after transferring me to a large city. This left me with the problem of securing employment when jobs were scarce, and I was a stranger with very little business experience. The name of a practitioner was selected from among those listed in The Christian Science Journal, and help was requested. I made one move to obtain employment and went to work within a week after asking for help. Several months later I learned that the position was awarded me from among several hundred applicants.
