My mother became interested in Christian Science when...

My mother became interested in Christian Science when I was a very little girl, so that from that time it was my privilege to attend the Christian Science Sunday School. However, even with this, I had to prove for myself the great value of Christian Science, and learn that it alone is my rod and staff. After leaving college I accepted the temptation to believe that certain social habits and indulgences had pleasures to offer which the high standard of Truth denied; and from this compromise I went literally into the depths of darkness and suffering. Yet I am most grateful that in spite of all the rather bitter experiences through which I had to go, I could not lose my grasp on Science, nor did divine Love cease to give guidance and protection until it forced me to the realization that the high standard of Truth does not restrict, but brings complete, joyous liberty. It was through these trials that I found true joy.

I have had many healings through the application of Christian Science. A misplaced vertebra went back into place without pain, when the unreality of matter and the allness of Spirit were declared.

One day while I was walking on the rocks at the shore I slipped and suffered a severe injury to a kneecap. A practitioner was called, and later that evening a physician was asked to make a diagnosis. He said that it looked like a very serious injury and that I should be taken immediately to the hospital for X ray, but he agreed to wait until morning. When he came the next morning he was able to move the kneecap quite easily and said that something very wonderful had taken place during the night. No X ray was necessary, nor did he offer to put on the splints which he had brought. Through the loving, tireless work of the practitioner I received a clearer sense of Mrs. Eddy's statement on page 96 of Science and Health, "Mortal error will vanish in a moral chemicalization." When I came to see that we must persevere unto the end of all error through the unfoldment of the Christ, Truth, my progress became more steady and the way more joyous.

I am deeply grateful to all those who have helped me to a clearer understanding of Truth, also for membership in The Mother Church and for the privilege of serving in a branch church, which has given me beautiful opportunities for growth and unfoldment. I am also extremely grateful for class instruction. My prayer and desire are that I may be about my Father's business in the way He directs, so that I may prove my gratitude to God, and to Jesus for demonstrating the Christ, and to our Leader for the complete revelation of divine Science which shows us how to do the works that Jesus did.—(Mrs.) Marietta K. Horniman, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

This is an expression of gratitude that through Christian Science my daughter has been so beautifully cared for in times of great need. I am also grateful to the friends who told me of Christian Science when I was passing through deep waters. Always I had been active in church and Sunday school work, but when a bitter experience came into my life I was lost, as it were; even faith in God was gone. But through loving help and reading I soon saw that if I were to become a Christian Scientist I must overcome hatred, selfishness, and bitterness, must learn to love my brother men, and to forgive and forget. Slowly the light dawned and the first victory was won, though I had said that nothing could help me.

I have learned that divine Love meets our every need. For over twenty-eight years Christian Science has been my only physician. I am grateful to God and to our revered Leader for the glorious truths in Science and Health that are helping the whole world to overcome just what I had to overcome; for membership in The Mother Church, and a branch church; for class instruction, and for all the activities of our movement, also for the faithful service of The Christian Science Board of Directors.
