Nearly twenty-one years ago my family took up the study of Christian Science. At that time I was very deaf in one ear, as the result of a severe abscess. One day a second abscess appeared, and I was asked whether I would have medical treatment or a practitioner's help. I chose the latter. Within ten minutes the abscess broke and my hearing was normal. One of my family at that time was apparently passing on, but with the help of a practitioner, who did not leave the house for a day and two nights, the condition was healed. Despite these healings we were unwilling either to study or to go to church, not seeing the necessity for it. Gradually we drifted away from Science back to material means for aid. We drifted so far away that we had nothing good to say of Science at all.

About twelve years later, when some of the best medical specialists told me they could do nothing more for me, when one who was very dear to me lay helpless in a hospital, and another had a problem of separation and loneliness to overcome, we again turned to Christian Science. For three years I got practically no help, despite my studying and attending the services and even becoming a member of a branch church. Then, through the help of a practitioner, the fact began to dawn on me that my thinking, my outlook on life, had to be changed. Slowly the physical condition began to improve and other problems were solved.

With the overcoming to some extent of resentment, criticism, and jealousy, sore throats, colds, and influenza have left me. Through these experiences I can see that when we destroy the erroneous thoughts which are the cause of every inharmonious physical condition, the error must fade into nothingness. Grief at the passing on of a loved one was quickly healed with the help of a practitioner.
