Christian Science found me in a hopeless condition, mentally in despair, and afflicted, according to the medical dictum, with an incurable diseae. Because of the risk of contagion, I was separated from my four children. Hemorrhages of the lungs and pleurisy forced me to spend thirtytwo months in hospitals and sanatoriums. The doctor's diagnosis was verified by an X-ray. My condition grew so much worse that the doctor discharged me from the sanatorium as incurable. As my husband was no longer living and my means were limited, I was obliged to leave my children in the care of strangers. In this hopeless condition I prayed fervently to God to show me a way to find peace.

Very soon after this a relative visited me unexpectedly and told me about a woman who had been healed of pleurisy in a few days through Christian Science. I then started to read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and after I had studied the first few pages, I knew I had found what I had been seeking. Such a strong desire came over me to ask someone for enlightenment that I went at once to a practitioner, who lovingly gave me treatment, for I was able to accept confidently this helpful teaching.

I threw away all my medicines, for I saw they were false gods, and I wanted to serve only the one true God. According to regulations I was obliged to be examined by a doctor from time to time; to my great joy he found my condition to be improved each time, so that within eight months I was able to have all four children with me again. Now I am able to take care of a household of six people all alone, and feel entirely well.

I was completely healed of my complaint in a comparatively short time, as well as of colds, nausea, loss of appetite, and sensitiveness; also in a financial way Christian Science has been a great help to me, for I am beginning to see that, as Mrs. Eddy says, "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health, p. 494).

As grateful as I am for the physical healings, my gratitude for my spiritual growth is much greater, and I am endeavoring to progress in the way I have found, and thus express my gratitude to God. I know now that divine Love is my guide in every situation, for I never dreamed that from such darkness I should ever glimpse the light.

I am deeply grateful that I can send my children to the Sunday school, where they can learn to know the truth and apply it. The daily study of the Bible and the textbook, and regular attendance at the services, always give me new strength and happiness. In heartfelt love I express my profound thanks to God, to Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and to our revered Leader.
