Eighteen years ago, when in distress about a bodily condition, and afraid of an operation which seemed unavoidable, I was reminded by a friend that instead of rushing headlong into an operation it might be wiser to look into Christian Science. This advice came like an angel message, for my fear of operations was extreme. Instead of going to the hospital, I took up the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. The chapter on Prayer made such a deep impression on me that I read it over and over for several weeks, after which time the alarming physical condition entirely disappeared, never to return.

Since that first experience I have relied on Christian Science alone for healing. I am very grateful that the first practitioner I knew iterated and reiterated the importance of working out one's own salvation. This injunction was repeated later by a wise Christian Science teacher and became one of the greatest helps on my way Spiritward. I am very grateful that Mrs. Eddy has provided the wonderful opportunity for her followers to receive class instruction, and thus to become fortified and prepared to "be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand."

Time and space would not permit a recounting of the manifold proofs of God's care, of His healing power and wonderful guidance, which I have experienced in the past eighteen years. But I do want to relate one or two of them.
