This testimony is the outcome of a deep sense of gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me, and for the innumerable blessings which it has brought and is continuing to bring into my life. This Science came to me when I had given up all hope of health and happiness in this life; but when the truth was presented to me I immediately purchased a copy of Science and Health and obeyed the invitation of Mrs. Eddy where she says on page 559 of this book: "Take divine Science. Read this book from beginning to end. Study it, ponder it. It will be indeed sweet at its first taste, when it heals you; but murmur not over Truth, if you find its digestion bitter." Its healing touch indeed was sweet, for it brought to me what I had unknowingly yearned for all my life, namely, a true understanding of God and my relationship to Him.
In the four years that have passed there has been a grand warfare in demonstrating the power of Spirit over matter. I have been healed of anaemia, ear trouble, rheumatism, and continual colds which appeared every winter. I was also healed of the effects of a motor accident, in which my limbs were badly bruised, my face cut, and I was unable to stand; but through the help of a practitioner I was able to attend the church service the following day, and in two more days I resumed my household duties.
For all these physical healings I am profoundly grateful, but they are small compared with the better understanding of God which Christian Science has brought to me. It has shown me how to replace selfishness with unselfishness, self-justification with humility, and the mortal sense of man with God's spiritual idea. My one desire is to prove worthy and be ever grateful for the precious lives of Christ Jesus, of our beloved Leader, and of all the consecrated practitioners who are helping mankind. I am intensely grateful for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, and for the unspeakable blessing of class instruction, which has been a constant source of inspiration.—(Mrs.) Ada Marion Vaughan, Southport, Lancashire, England.
