Testimonies of Healing

Prior to the discovery of Christian Science, in the year 1866, most mortals believed that sickness and disease were inevitable, and in some cases God-sent. As a result of this discovery, multitudes of witnesses to the healing power of Christ, Truth, have been and are being sent forth. This happy band of pilgrims includes men, women, and children from all nationalities, creeds, occupations, and professions who by means of this teaching have found salvation from sin, disease, and even death. Yea, redeemed, transformed, rejuvenated, they march forward rejoicing in the expectation of final redemption from all that is unlike good.

These unnumbered thousands are living witnesses to the fact that mankind does not have to submit to the false claims of sickness or disease. Through the revelation of their divine sonship and true heritage—recognition of which came to them through the study of the Bible, with the Christian Science textbook by Mary Baker Eddy and other Christian Science literature—they have found that bodily diseases are unnecessary, even though for centuries mortals have accepted them as real.

Testimonies of all manner of healings through Christian Science may be found in The Christian Science Journal, the Christian Science Sentinel, and the Heralds. These pages, however, could not possibly record all the healings that are hourly taking place in thought and body all over the world. Many of these healings are not known outside the circle of the family, business associates, or close friends. Recognizing the value of audible testimonies in their far-reaching effect and support of Christian Science, our Leader has provided an opportunity at the Wednesday evening meetings to tell of this healing message and what it has done for us. Expressions of sincere gratitude for blessings received and the overcoming of illnesses through Christian Science help strangers to know that they do not have to continue in bondage to disease or sin. Given some realization of their divine heritage, they are filled with joy and hope of redemption here and now. "Rightly dividing the word of truth," the testifiers help the weary pilgrim to find peace and rest within the "atmosphere of Love divine."
