Some years ago I was attacked by what was diagnosed as cerebral meningitis, a disease commonly considered incurable by the medical profession. Great fear was present in the thought of my family, as two of my cousins had passed on from another form of the same malady. After I had been under the care of local physicians for a period of eight weeks, they said that there was no more they could do, and a specialist from another city was called into consultation. After considering the case he told the family that I could not live more than twenty-four hours, but that were I to live I should be crippled mentally or physically or both.

Upon hearing this verdict, my mother, as a last resort, told one of the nurses to call a Christian Science practitioner. He came at once and gave me a treatment. Within thirty minutes I awakened to full consciousness from an intense delirium which had lasted throughout the illness, and from which I had lapsed into coma. Upon awakening I asked for food, and before midnight of the same day the poisonous condition associated with the disease was thrown off. Three days thereafter I went downstairs for dinner with the family, and within two weeks was out-of-doors and made a journey by train. Soon I returned to business activity, and since that time have filled continuously positions of trust and responsibility, and have been better, both mentally and physically, than ever before.

It was the power of God, as understood in Christian Science, that healed me, and words are inadequate to express the gratitude I feel to our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who gave Christian Science to the world; and for the consecrated work of practitioners.—Robert DeArmond, Dayton, Ohio.
