In the sermon reported in your issue of April 28 the preacher said, "What Mrs. Eddy and her theory could not do, the peace of God could do."

If the preacher believed this, then he is ignorant of what Christian Science really is, for its way of leading mankind to the realization of the peace of God is the Scriptural way. Even ignorantly to misrepresent the conscientious convictions of those from whom one differs is scarcely worthy.

It would appear that he has, nevertheless, something to learn from Mrs. Eddy, who wrote on page 8 of her work "No and Yes": "We should endeavor to be long-suffering, faithful, and charitable with all. To this small effort let us add one more privilege—namely, silence whenever it can substitute censure. Avoid voicing error; but utter the truth of God and the beauty of holiness, the joy of Love and 'the peace of God, that passeth all understanding,' recommending to all men fellowship in the bonds of Christ."
