Abundance

The thinking of alert and faithful Christian Scientists is constantly based on the First Commandment. They accept without reservation the divine fact that there is only one power—infinite good. There is in reality no evil power, for "the powers that be are ordained of God," and they are beneficent always.

Today perhaps the most insidious form of doubt as to God's power is in regard to supply. It therefore requires instant and constant alertness to keep thought filled with the truth that abundance is from God, the one infinite source; that it is universal, unlimited, always wherever we are; and that the general mesmeric belief in lack cannot keep God's abundance from us; cannot make us doubt the omnipresence of good; cannot make us think of ourselves as outside of the infinite pouring forth of abundance.

The eternal fact in God's universe is infinite good, abounding affluence, unlimited, unceasing substance. God being the source of supply, it is always infinite, always present, always available. No condition of mortal mind or of world affairs ever stopped for an instant the flow of good from God to man. If, then, appearances suggest that it has stopped, or been intercepted, these suggestions are totally untrue. And knowing this, we cannot be made to accept these mental arguments against ourselves and our welfare, for we understand the continuity of abundance and the nature of the one God, unchanging Love.
