Twenty-five years ago I was living in...

Twenty-five years ago I was living in a small town in northern Ohio, and while going from our home to that of my wife's folks, I was taken ill and was helped into a neighbor's house, and a physician was telephoned to come at once. While sitting on a sofa I noticed some books under a stand, and asking to see one was handed a book which I read until the physician came and took me on to my destination. After the physician had prepared some medicine and left, I asked my wife to go and get that book for me, as there was something in it that I wanted to read. She did so, and when asked what I was reading, I said that it was some kind of religion that a woman had started.

In a few days I started out for work and forgot all about the book until we came to Kansas City the following spring. At that time I was inveterate smoker and was suffering from delirium tremens, caused by long and excessive use of intoxicating liquor. My sister took me to a Christian Science practitioner and I was healed. I then began to attend the church services, and in a short time I remembered that the book which I had read those few days, while living in Ohio, was "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

I am grateful to our Leader for Christian Science; for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church; and for the periodicals issued by The Christian Science Publishing Society.—Burt Dyche, Kansas City, Kansas.
