Will you kindly allow me space in your paper for the correction of a misleading statement concerning healing of the sick through the power of prayer, made by a local pastor in your issue of May 7? The pastor said, "God will not work a miracle to heal the sick." Although the pastor did not directly attack Christian Science, I feel that his remarks call for a correction.

Many of the pages of the four Gospels record the healing of the sick by our Master, and in the Acts of the Apostles are recorded many healings of the sick, even to the raising of the dead. History shows that healing by spiritual means was practiced in the early Christian church for about three hundred years after Jesus' time.

Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (Pref., p. xi): "The physical healing of Christian Science results now, as in Jesus' time, from the operation of divine Principle, before which sin and disease lose their reality in human consciousness and disappear as naturally and as necessarily as darkness gives place to light and sin to reformation. Now, as then, these mighty works are not supernatural, but supremely natural."
