Sufficient Understanding

TO every student of Christian Science it is important to inquire whether his understanding of God, the Father-Mother, is increasing. Is the simple and certain sense of the omnipotence of Life and the ever-presence of God, Love, becoming stronger?

The least understanding of God must be actively employed in order to unfold itself in human thought. Philip said to Jesus, "Shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us." This is true in Christian Science. However small it may seem, a correct understanding of the power of "God with us," when steadfastly adhered to, is always sufficient to bring out the solution of any problem. Why? Because the divine idea leads our thought to feel God's all-power and infinite protection as our eternal safeguard.

Is there a tendency among students of Christian Science to belittle their own understanding of divine Life? We must rejoice and know that we always have enough understanding for present needs. It is error of thought which contradicts this fact and claims that we have not sufficient faith, wisdom, intelligence, or understanding to bring out good results. God does not fail us in a time of need or allow any false belief to destroy the ability He bestows to overcome error with the truth.
