I wish to express my gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me. I had been an invalid at intervals for many years after I left school. I had tried many kinds of medicine and had undergone operations, thinking all this would bring me healing and strength. Instead I seemed to get much worse. A dear friend who came to see me one day asked me if I would care to try Christian Science. I was at that time again in bed with my old trouble, and was not allowed to get up or stand. I was suffering from very bad hemorrhages which had been the so-called cause of many of my ailments. I told my friend that I was ready to try anything rather than take medicines, knowing by that time that none would do me any good.

This friend gave me a Christian Science Sentinel and the textbook to read. After reading in both a few hours I was healed. I had then been in bed for weeks and was in a very weak state. I got out of bed, dressed, and went out for some food. When my friend called in the evening I met her on the stairs, radiant with happiness. From that day I walked daily some distance to her house to read the Lesson-Sermon with her, as I had none of the Christian Science books myself, and we were then hundreds of miles away in Malta where there are no churches or Reading Rooms in which to buy Christian Science literature. So until I possessed Science and Health myself I continued going each day to her house, never feeling weak or tired, but just hungry for more of this wonderful truth. I now swim and play games, but before my healing I was never able to do so, and never knew what strength really meant. I cannot say how very grateful I am for this wonderful healing, which proves that "blood never gave life and can never take it away" (Science and Health, p. 376).

A few months after I reached England the old fear reappeared, and for a time the old condition seemed to return. With the assistance of a practitioner who helped me to stand firm and to know only the truth about God's child, the problem very soon disappeared. This was three years ago and it has not returned. I now know that the healing is permanent. This outstanding healing, which came to me when everything looked its blackest, makes me feel that I want to relate it to others so that it may help them if they have a similar problem to meet; also to urge them to stand firm and to hold on to this glorious truth that never fails when honestly applied. Jesus said, "Seek, and ye shall find." I have many times proved this to be true. I have also had healings of chronic rheumatism, eczema, colds, and indigestion in its worst forms. By reading Science and Health and holding on to the truth that "accidents are unknown to God" (ibid., p. 424) one of my ankles was instantaneously healed of a sprain.
