I did not come to Christian Science for physical healing...
I did not come to Christian Science for physical healing, but for a peace of mind that I had never known. If I had got nothing but that out of the study of Christian Science it would have been worth the effort. The understanding that I have gained from this study has meant much to me, and when applied correctly it has met my every need, physical, mental, and financial.
One of the physical healings we witnessed was of a severe case of pneumonia with which our seven-year-old daughter suffered, when it seemed that death was very near. It took several days to overcome the fear of death, also the belief that it took time to overcome such a severe case. In seven days she was back in the schoolroom. Another healing came at a time when our two-year-old daughter broke her collar bone. The pain was quickly overcome, but it took some time for the bone to straighten. When we forgot to look to see if it was straight, and it was examined some time later, it appeared as if nothing had ever happened to it. This same child had a beautiful healing of spinal meningitis in four days. The birth of our son took place in less than ten minutes, with very little pain and no after effect, and in less than twenty-four hours I was up and about the affairs of my home. Other healings with the help of a practitioner have been of blood poisoning, chicken pox, boils, and an instantaneous healing of a broken toe. Colds, influenza, and many other ailments have been overcome by our own understanding of Truth.
Christian Science has enabled me to overcome a bad disposition, and I am learning to reflect the love that is "the fulfilling of the law." I have overcome hatred in an extreme form. I am grateful for every phase of the Christian Science work; for the literature that is a never ending help; and to the practitioners who so lovingly and willingly help us to overcome our problems; to God; to our Way-shower, Christ Jesus; and to our revered Leader; also for membership in The Mother Church and in a Christian Science Society.
