It is with deep love and gratitude that I give this testimony of the great healing power of Christian Science. During the early part of 1929 I contracted tuberculosis and heart trouble which appeared to be of a very serious nature. I consulted several of the best specialists in Chicago and was given many kinds of tonics and so-called "body builders," but my condition was helped in no way wharsoever. I was told that there was nothing more the doctors could do for me, but that it would be necessary for me to go to Arizona or New Mexico, where the dry air might help me. They stated, further, that my case was incurable, and that I might last two months or six months, but that I should never be well again. One can imagine how discouraged I felt at this time. I gave up all thought of ever becoming well again and morbidly awaited that fatal day.
At this time a friend recommended Christian Science. I ridiculed it at first, but although I had no faith whatsoever in it I thought it would not do any harm to try it. This friend made an appointment for me with a Christian Science practitioner, and I shall always remember the gentle loving-kindness which the practitioner bestowed upon me during the interview. He pointed out that I was a son of God, made in His image and likeness; also that sickness was unknown to God. He instructed me to secure a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which I immediately purchased. After reading this book and having treatments, I felt like a new man. In about two months I was completely healed, and my lungs and heart were as normal as they had ever been.
I have also been healed of numerous other ailments; and I am indeed grateful to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and also for the work of the practitioner.
