It is with a humble and joyful heart that I bear witness to the healing power of Christian Science.

I had been in bed with both legs completely paralyzed, and one arm partly so, for almost a year. When the doctors met for another consulation, and I asked the specialist when I should walk again, he slowly shook his head and left the room. After the failure of all that medical science could do, in my despair I asked for Christian Science help, not expecting to be healed, but only comforted. The third time the practitioner visited me she said, "You are healed, but it is fear that is keeping you in that bed."

That night I reread an article on Christian Science, which said in part: "With the rising of the sun the post casts a shadow. The shadow is the absence of light, and is nothing, yet it is witnessed to by the physical eye. If the light be regarded as real, then the shadow is the absence of that light or reality, so is unreal. In the case of the shadow, 'nothing' appears dark. Is there any essential reason why 'nothing' might not just as well appear hard, soft, painful, or swollen, and yet be nothing?" The truth of this statement dawned upon my consciousness, so that the words seemed illumined. It seemed as though a great light were turned on in my thought; and there was a feeling of peace and joy. The next morning I arose from my bed, bathed, dressed, and walked downstairs, perfectly healed.
