I wish to express my gratitude for the first healing I had...
I wish to express my gratitude for the first healing I had in Christian Science, about seven years ago. At that time, and for some years before, I had been greatly troubled with a stomach and intestinal condition which doctors diagnosed as nervous indigestion. Although I tried a number of doctors and many kinds of medicines, along with several X-ray treatments, I continually grew worse. There was hardly an hour in the day that I was without pain, and I grew very thin. Finally, on the recommendation of one doctor, I had an operation for appendicitis, but after that I was no better. I then tried chiropractic, sulphur baths, and similar treatments with no better results.
One day a friend who was interested in Christian Science asked me if I would read a certain book, and I told her I would do anything; so she very kindly obtained the book from the Christian Science Reading Room, and it proved to be "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I started to read it, but did not seem to understand it at all; nevertheless, I had read only about half of it when I realized that all the former discordant conditions had passed away, and I was healed. It certainly was a wonderful revelation, and proved without a doubt the omnipotence of God.
I have had many healings which may not seem so great as the first one, such as of colds and headaches, and have experienced a great improvement in disposition. I could continue writing pages on the many blessings I have had since coming into Science. I shall never cease to be grateful to the friend who recommended it to me. I am especially grateful for all the periodicals, and also for the testimonies, from which I get great encouragement. I thank God every hour for all the blessings I have had, and am very grateful to Mrs. Eddy. I do not know what I should do now without Christian Science.—(Miss) Florence Flemming, Buffalo, New York.
