From the Field

[From the Annual Report of Committee on Christian Science Work at Folsom State Prison and Preston School of Industry, in California]

The desire to serve with love and humility is indeed a prayer that finds healing entrance into human hearts, opens the prison doors to those that are bound, and lets in the light of Truth and Love. Those actively engaged in this service are happy to report continued progress during the last year in the Christian Science work at both the Folsom State Prison and the Preston School of Industry.

Regular monthly meetings are held by the Committee, and careful supervision of the work has been maintained. Workers visit Folsom State Prison and Preston School of Industry each Saturday to minister to the spiritual welfare of those who are interested in Christian Science and wish to be helped.

Numerous friendly interviews have been held with those who desire a better understanding of Christian Science as well as physical healing. Christian Science services are held each Sunday at both institutions. The average attendance has been eighty-six at Folsom Prison and seventy-five at Preston School. Sunday school is held each Sunday at Preston School with an average attendance of sixty-six. A Thanksgiving service was held at each institution and was well attended. One lecture on Christian Science was given at each institution the past year, and it also was well attended.
