"A low sweet prelude"

It was a worker's first day in a downtown office. The sounds of the street cars and of the general traffic entered the room. At first the thought of the occupant was disturbed; then came an angel, God's thought, as angels always come to us when we are truly listening, and with it, peace.

This office was established for the voicing of the truth about God and man, and for nothing else. It was there that those who came hungering and thirsting for Truth might find a sure sense of God and His all-presence; therefore, nothing should enter to divert thought from consecration to that purpose.

As the occupant became absorbed in earnest contemplation of harmony, present in the place devoted to God's work, the harsh noises were excluded from consciousness, and as a result of this mental freedom came the inevitable reward—peace. A little house finch had flown to the seventh story, and, perched upon the window sill, was singing sweetly. How manifold are the lessons of divine Love which ever show us that if we but exclude from our thought the false, discordant sounds of earth we shall hear only harmony! Always there will come the spiritual song; and if we listen rightly we shall surely hear it. In one of our much loved hymns are the words:
