Christian Science has been the greatest blessing our family has known. We have had to prove its efficacy in the healing of many diseases, among them appendicitis, blood poisoning, influenza, and neuritis.

Several years ago, within a period of ten days, two of the children contracted smallpox. My first demonstration in this experience was to lose a sense of repugnance to the name, as I had always considered this disease to be a loathsome one. I soon saw that it was no more real than any other phase of evil, and I could meet calmly all the admonitions of the physician who was called to diagnose the case. I understood that divine Love not only would protect us but would heal the two children who were ill.

The third child manifested all the symptoms twice, but they were overcome each time. I also came under the same mesmerism, but after a battle of many hours the spiritual inspiration, which alone is the demonstration, came, and peace and joy followed.
