Christian Science was given to me as a very little child through the beneficent influence of my grandmother, a devoted practitioner in the Field for many years. Later, my mother was healed through Christian Science treatment when physicians offered an operation as the only refuge from years of semi-invalidism; and from that time I began to attend the Christian Science Sunday School regularly. The process of Truth, however, seemed to work slowly in my consciousness; and although I depended upon it in every physical difficulty, it was not until in after years I faced the necessity of solving the larger problems of life, that I began for myself to make practical use of this teaching.

Over and over again this healing truth has been sought and proved to be an ever present help, and an effectual destroyer of human ills for our four children and me. A number of times it has prevented the development of disease when symptoms were alarming. Chicken pox, measles, and whooping cough were quickly banished, and mumps overcome at its first sign. Bowel and digestive difficulties were seemingly stubborn with each of the children in infancy, but the healing has been perfect in each case, and the demands of Truth more thoroughly learned each time. With one child a large abscess developed, but through the care of Christian Science treatment it broke without disfigurement and caused no pain. Another child had an almost instantaneous healing of what had appeared to be a badly sprained wrist and arm. This took place through his own effort to cooperate in the work of Truth, by doing a helpful errand which necessitated the use of the arm that had for twenty-four hours been painful to touch or lift normally. I have realized freedom from a childhood tendency to frequent returns of malarial fever, and less liability to severe and lasting colds.

I wish to express very great gratitude for the comfort and help received at the birth of our children, through the loving care of a Christian Science practitioner and nurse. I am also deeply grateful that in recent years my husband has become interested in the study of Christian Science, and has had an instantaneous healing of an increasing desire to smoke, a healing that came about through treatment for a physical difficulty, without any expressed desire for release from the use of tobacco. The understanding of God as divine Principle, as the one and only source of all good, has met our every need and brought us into a larger sense of home and supply. I am truly grateful that through this more scientific, spiritual sense of unity and government in the home our children are able to enjoy the benefit of the Sunday school instruction.
