Christian Science came into my life when I was a young girl. I had attended a Sunday school of a so-called orthodox church, but was not satisfied. One Sunday the lesson was on the healing of Jairus' daughter. I wondered why such healing was not done now; then the verse from John came to me, "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me." I thought, Well, if it is not already discovered perhaps I might find it! So I searched as well as I knew how. A short time after that my grandmother, who was suffering from heart trouble, had Christian Science presented to her, and it was accepted by her and she was healed. My parents also took it up, and some of us attended the Christian Science Sunday School.

Soon after this we moved to another state, miles from neighbors and doctors, where Christian Science was a great help. One brother was healed of the bad effects of the bite of a poisonous lizard, when to mortal sense he was very ill. Another brother was healed of a dislocated shoulder; and we were all healed of the bad effects of drinking impure water. Animals also have responded to the truth. In 1910, I came to live in Sydney, and had the privilege of attending the Christian Science services, and had many proofs of the protecting power of Truth.

One demonstration, with the help of a faithful practioner, was over a sprained muscle in my side. I had forgotten the incident until my side started twitching, and as I did not meet the case myself I asked a practitioner for help. For some months there was no change, so the thought of contraction was taken up. Soon after that, when turning in bed quickly I felt a tearing sensation and pain. I declared the truth many times; then all pain disappeared. It was thought that part of the internal organs had grown to the side. That was some years ago, and I have not had any return of the trouble.
