Four years ago on Thanksgiving Day I was in a Christian Science church for the first time, and it is over three years ago that I was healed of what was considered a serious disease of the bowels. The doctors wanted me to submit to an operation, but I did not want to do so, because, even with the little understanding of Christian Science I then had, I knew that God would help me. Some dear Christian Scientists helped me, and with the patient, unselfish work of a practitioner, who helped me to understand the truth about God's child, I was wonderfully healed. Thus was my prayer answered: "Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed."
I am unspeakably grateful for all the good that Christian Science has brought to us. We have worked out mental and physical problems of many kinds, including those encountered in business affairs and the difficulties which may arise daily. One of the most beautiful thoughts gained is that we are all included in that universal Love which is omnipresent; that we never work alone, but that many thousands are united in reflecting the same great Truth.
We are extremely grateful for Mrs. Eddy's great work, which shows mankind how to be happy and healthy and free—to awake to the heritage of man as God's child. I once read in a Herald of Christian Science that if there apparently was not a special reason to be grateful, there is always this reason: to thank God that He created man in His image and likeness.
