The day Christian Science came into my life, more than...
The day Christian Science came into my life, more than twenty years ago, the doctor who was attending me for double pneumonia had told my husband that my condition was hopeless and that it was only a question of days. During the day a Christian Science friend who had heard the news came to see me. He talked to me about God's love and healing power with such assurance that when he left the fever had subsided. When the doctor came the next day, he was greatly astonished to find me much better and said: "You are well. It is a miracle."
This beautiful healing encouraged me to study Christian Science. From the age of thirteen I had often been a sufferer and many times needed a physician, but since this experience I have never resorted to any material remedy.
One day I was helping a neighbor who was moving. As I was going downstairs with a thick pile of newspapers, I slipped and fell on my back down to the foot of the stairs. I mentally declared that God was my Life, and that no evil could befall me. My neighbor, seeing me so white and motionless, thought I was dead. With her help I was able to lie down on a sofa. Later I returned to my home, all bent over and suffering greatly from my back. I sent for my Science friend, who kindly helped me to realize the omnipotence of God. A few days later I was able to resume my work.
