Signs of the Times

[Dr. W. W. Catherwood, as quoted in the Enterprise, Riverside, California]

God is always challenging us to do the impossible; we never test the resources of God until we try the seemingly impossible.

Phillips Brooks once said, "Do not ask for the easy tasks, but pray for strength to do the difficult ones." Moses turned his back on the life of luxury that could have been his at the court of Pharaoh, and cast his lot with the common people, thus putting his vision on God. Saul of Tarsus in the light of his vision said: I am a debtor and I will pay my debt to him who gave his life for me. . . . When we have the faith to look above to God, then is it possible to overcome difficulties, for by faith we accomplish the impossible. The impossible is done by men and women who sacrifice.
