Christian Science came to me when I was faced with suffering,...
Christian Science came to me when I was faced with suffering, sorrow, lack, and separation, at a time when a little son had been given up to die of a so-called incurable disease; and through its teachings I have obtained joy and peace. At the age of three this child was suffering with convulsions which were so severe that it seemed advisable to place him in a hospital under the observation of well-known specialists. The report of the observation was that he was suffering from a brain tumor which was causing epilepsy. The doctors said that if he lived he would be an invalid and cripple. His body was in a weakened condition, his eyes dull, his side paralyzed. At that time I asked for Christian Science help. Absent treatment was given by a loving practitioner and as a result the convulsions stopped, his body became strong and sturdy, his eyes bright, and he played as a normal child should. The boy is now seven years old, larger and sturdier than the average child of his age, and going to school every day. There has been no return of the disease. It was proved to me that, as Mrs. Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 463), "A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive."
I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church; for the practitioners and friends who have helped me along the way; and for the literature and the lectures, which have been a wonderful help to me.
(Mrs.) Doris C. Slipp, Cleveland, Ohio.
