Christian Science is the greatest blessing that ever came...
Christian Science is the greatest blessing that ever came into my life. I am truly grateful for having been led to know of its teachings and for every experience that prepared me to accept it. First among these preparations was the family home training we received from our parents; next, the practical preaching of several ministers, which made me desire to understand the Bible better.
I had long suffered considerable pain previous to the time Christian Science was brought to my notice; and when I was about to undergo a second operation for kidney trouble, I prayed earnestly to God that if I survived and Christ Jesus' way of healing should again be revealed to the world, I might learn about it. Two years after this Christian Science was brought to the home where I now live. I did not recognize it at first as the answer to my prayer, but was very much impressed with the atmosphere of peace and rest at a Christian Science Sunday service which it was recommended I attend.
I purchased the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, but did not get much of it read. Everything seemed very difficult at this time, and I gave way a great deal to worry. Then I had a nervous breakdown. A Christian Science practitioner was asked to come to see me, and kindly did so; but although there was much wrong thinking to be corrected I told her I did not want to have anything more to do with Christian Science. The next morning a doctor was sent for, and I recovered sufficiently to attend the church services again. Still very full of fear, I asked another Christian Science practitioner to give me treatment. Through her faithful help I received a glimpse of the truth, as revealed to us in Christian Science, and began to read and study the textbook and the Lesson-Sermons. That was over twenty-four years ago, and I have never used material remedies or been incapacitated for attending to household duties for a single day during these years.
