With reference to the report of the Convocation of Canterbury,...

Wanganui Herald

With reference to the report of the Convocation of Canterbury, printed in your columns of March 13, may I say a few words to correct any false impression which might be conveyed to your readers therefrom?

A clergyman is reported to have said that "a great deal of so-called faith healing is due to natural causes, and the faith necessary is subjective, rather than objective.... It does not matter what the faith of a person is for mental healing." It is not very clear what the reverend gentleman meant by the above, but it might be helpful to some of your readers to say a little about Christian Science, and how it works.

It would be as well to understand clearly at the outset that no fantastic religious theories would be fruitful soil for the work of healing, and that healing does not depend upon faith, as commonly understood.
