The greatest event in any human consciousness is the dawning of the light of the truth of Christian Science.
Twenty-four years ago Christian Science came to me and was recognized as the Comforter. So strong was its appeal that I read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, every possible moment. It answered many puzzling questions, and its philosophy was satisfying. After six weeks of constant reading I awakened one morning at three o'clock, alone in a hotel room, with a severe attack of laryngitis. I had suffered from two or three similar attacks annually for several years; and the question came, Oh! do I have to be sick again? A second thought was, Here is an opportunity to prove the truth about which I have been reading. With this turning to Christian Science my consciousness became flooded with the light of Truth, and ideas gained from the six weeks' reading passed rapidly through my thought with an illumination before unknown. This was indeed the dawning of a new day, and the glory of it surpassed any former experience. The healing was instantaneous, not only of the acute attack, but also of a chronic throat trouble of many years' standing.
This diligent study was continued. Several months passed, and one day I awoke to the fact that my spine had been healed of three curvatures that had limited my activities for years, and I realized that I was free to do anything I wished. It was great fun to lift my suit cases and trunks, walk long distances, play tennis, and so forth. There was a great sense of mental freedom accompanying this healing.
