I Have Lived To-day!

Oh, I have lived to-day — to me was given
The Word that brought relief to one distressed,
As, through the lens of Truth, a glimpse of heaven
And Life eternal brought him peace and rest.
Oh, I have lived — for early in the morning
I robed myself in praise, and cast away
The heaviness of matter's crude adorning,
And worthless idols made of common clay.
The radiance of Truth transformed my brother.
Ah, this were Life indeed, could I alway
Perceive His likeness — recognize none other —
And know at even I have lived to-day!
