About nineteen years ago I came to Christian Science...
About nineteen years ago I came to Christian Science for the healing of earache after being treated by a specialist, as the pain had become more severe after the specialist treated me. The pain left after the third treatment from a Christian Science practitioner, and the healing has been permanent. I have had many other healings in Christian Science, such as the overcoming of a sensitive condition of the throat. I went to a practitioner and she told me that it was fear. After two or three treatments I was healed. I have also been healed of corns, constipation, and an abscessed tooth.
I was comforted and healed to a great extent of sorrow at the passing on of my only sister. Through the study I was forced to do at this time I gained a clearer understanding of Life as eternal. I was very grateful for the LessonSermon the week my sister passed on. The subject was "Life." I was also most grateful for the reading from the desk the Sunday morning of that week. This text was read: "Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died." The realization came to me so clearly that Christ, Truth, is ever present, and there is no death. I could feel distinctly that my sister was still living. Also the following text John was very helpful: "Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live."
For the loving work and encouragement of a consecrated practitioner, I have cause to be most thankful, I have been protected, guided, and directed in many ways through the study and application of Christian Science. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, for the literature, the lectures, and all the channels of good which our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, provided for us through The Mother Church.
