Fearless Love
A Clearer comprehension of divine Love, a wider, purer, more constant receptivity to good — in other words, greater spirituality — is the vital need of the human race.
Christian Science exposes the fact that every phase of fear, whether it be entertained in connection with health, intelligence, daily supplies, or with happiness, centers in materiality. On page 146 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy states that "the first idolatry was faith in matter;" and "faith in matter" is apt to turn into fear of matter. The teachings of Christian Science tend perpetually to lift one above the ignorant agitation of fear into the calm of spiritual understanding. Fear rests upon nothingness, and can be healed only as one gains some understanding of God's creation. There is no fear in Mind or in its reflections; therefore this deluder is excluded from the realm of true consciousness.
Yet, even though human reason may agree to this, and although the student of Christian Science may doggedly deny fear, perhaps he is doing so half-heartedly, as a matter of duty, and is retaining the false sense that, in spite of his study, and his declarations of Truth, he is still enslaved by certain fears.
