A Hymn of Peace

O Life! whene'er we turn to Thee,
We feel Thy touch; our thoughts with newness fill;
Oh, may our waiting hearts uplifted be,
To know the calmness of the "Peace, be still"!
O Truth! Thy voice is ever near,
Speaking where doubt and darkness seem to reign.
Thy light is shining through the mist and fear;
Oh, may the light of peace with us remain!
O Love! whose thoughts are stayed on Thee,
Thou dost forever keep in perfect peace;
Enfolded 'neath Thy wing eternally,
We praise Thee now in songs that never cease!
O God of peace! we would Christ's gospel spread,
Stilling the storm-waves, in humility;
Leading the Christ-life, which our Master led,
Spirit of peace! we would abide in Thee!
