From early childhood I was troubled with rheumatism
From early childhood I was troubled with rheumatism. Later on I had lumbago and sciatica, and wore flannels and woolen kneecaps for years. A doctor and a hospital nurse both told me that the trouble had become chronic, and that nothing would do me any good. However, about eleven years ago, as I was worse and becoming crippled, I wrote to a Christian Science practitioner to see if she could help me, as I had read a number of testimonies in some copies of the Sentinel sent me by a friend some time before. The practitioner very kindly came to see me and talked for a little while about Christian Science. As she talked I felt uplifted, and thought I really could be helped. I was, however, very slow in understanding Christian and often went to her for help. I can never be grateful enough for all her loving patience in guiding me into the right way. It was during this time that I saw Christian Science being lived as it was taught. After some months of intermittent treatment, "the outlines of disease already formulated in the minds of mortals" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mrs. Eddy, p. 175) were effaced, and I was healed. I am now stronger and better than ever before. Taking long bicycle rides and walking miles have not tired me. Heat, cold, rain make no difference now, whereas before I suffered from all these conditions. Sick headaches and fainting have also been overcome. Before knowing of Christian Science I frequently took medicine, but I have not taken any such remedy all these years.
I am deeply grateful to God; to Christ Jesus, the Wayshower; and to Mrs. Eddy. I am also grateful for the better understanding I have gained of the Bible; for membership in The Mother Church; and for the privilege of working in a branch church. —(Miss) Anna Florence Fuggle, Bexhill-on-Sea, Sussex, England.
