Ushering

The office of ushering in a Church of Christ, Scientist, is an important one. "Usher" is defined by a dictionary in part as follows: "A person in charge of a door of entrance; hence, an officer whose business it is to introduce strangers." The spiritual meaning and the practical application of this definition are enlightening.

Jesus said, "He that is greatest among you shall be your servant;" and he admonished his followers to "become as little children," that is to say, humble, loving, and innocent. One who has the love and the desire to serve in this way may well watch the door of his consciousness, and keep it wide open with the thought,
