Truly, Christian Science is "the law of God, the law of...
Truly, Christian Science is "the law of God, the law of good, interpreting and demonstrating the divine Principle and rule of universal harmony," as Mrs. Eddy says on page 1 of "Rudimental Divine Science."
I have had many healings in Christian Science. One was of ivy poisoning on my hands and wrists. In twenty-four hours from the time I called on a practitioner all signs of the trouble were gone. At another time I was caught on the horns of an enraged bull and pinned against a wall, receiving internal injuries and two broken ribs. Within an hour the intense suffering was relieved, although I stayed in bed for a day. The next day I drove a car, and the following day drove it one hundred miles to a picnic. Strangers would never have known about the accident if my family had not told them. Within a short time after this, while I was plowing, the plow hit a rock which brought one of the handles squarely on to those ribs and broke them over again. This bothered me for a while, but I was healed without being bandaged.
In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 150) we read that "signs and wonders are wrought in the metaphysical healing of physical disease; but these signs are only to demonstrate its divine origin,—to attest the reality of the higher mission of the Christ-power to take away the sins of the world." Conceit, arrogance, and self-righteousness are stumblingblocks in the road to progress which I needed to endeavor to overcome. I thank God for the revelation that brought this need to my attention; also for class instruction, for the thoughtful practitioners who give untiringly of their time and effort, and for the Sunday school in which I have had the privilege of teaching.
