The Least of These

Tiny , tender thoughts at play—
Sportive, innocent, and gay.

Let us love and cherish these,
Keep away too chill a breeze

Of adult warning, dreary, harsh;
Or don'ts, unfolding joy to parch.

Let us learn, instead of teach,
Joy and gratitude for each

Childlike thought of love and good
Furnishing our daily food.

Underneath the almighty wing
Heaven's nestlings sweetly sing.

In our heart this song we hear
Banishing all doubt and fear.
