I wish to express gratitude for a healing which occurred...

I wish to express gratitude for a healing which occurred in my family. A ten-year-old son was playing in a creek about a block from home. He jumped from the bank into the creek, and in so doing landed on his knee on a sharp-edged rock. The force of the blow took a large piece of flesh out, exposing the knee bone, cutting an artery, and injuring the knee bone. Another child came up to the house and told us of the trouble. My husband ran down to get our boy. Neighbors saw him being carried up, and requested us not to have Christian Science for him, as the condition was too serious. We quietly replied to them and went into our home and shut the doors.

A Christian Science practitioner's help was asked for and lovingly given, with the result that in a few hours the bleeding had practically stopped, and after a day the child had no pain. In a week he was about, but limping badly. From all sides came predictions that he would always limp. Many arguments came up at this time. The wound seemed to be infected, and the child was weak from the loss of blood. Fear, discouragement, a human sense of parenthood, also came up, but with the continued help of a practitioner and earnest study on our part these errors were met. More of the truth about man was realized, and thought was spiritualized. And one day, some two months after this experience, I saw the child running downhill and running perfectly. There was no evidence of a limp or halt. Mere words fail to express a fractional part of the gratitude felt for this healing and for an additional proof of the certainty and absoluteness of Christian Science.

I am grateful for membership in a branch church and for the opportunity to express gratitude by serving therein. I am also grateful to Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, for this gift to the world.
